Inside the U.S.–Israel alliance: How Trump’s 60‑day ultimatum, stealth bombers & mega-bombs shape the crisis

Introduction
As the conflict between Israel and Iran intensifies, the eyes of the world turn to the USA and its president, Donald Trump. The burning question now is whether President Trump will join the conflict directly or whether the USA will stay out.
Although he strongly supports Israel and its actions against Iran and its nuclear facilities, President Trump has not yet clearly stated whether he will use military force against Iran.
For now, he is carefully balancing between war and diplomacy, emphasizing that the priority is the neutralization of Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Trump praises Israel’s airstrikes, calling them “excellent” and “very successful,” and promises additional weapons and air support.
When asked by the media, he said the decision would be made at the last moment. According to some sources, he has provisionally approved attack plans but postponed a final decision, demanding that Iran first willingly end its nuclear program.
In the Oval Office on Wednesday, he told reporters that he and his national security team had moved to the Situation Room for further discussions.
“I might do it, I might not,” Trump told the press.
He demanded “unconditional surrender” from Iran, called Ayatollah Khamenei an “easy target,” and wished him “good luck,” clearly suggesting the possibility of targeted strikes. Trump also claimed that Iranian officials had requested diplomatic talks in the White House.
Iranian officials have warned that U.S. involvement would mean “total war” and cause “irreparable damage.” Meanwhile, the U.S. has deployed aerial tanker planes and other resources around Europe and the Middle East, signaling readiness to get involved.

Recall that on Friday, Israel began striking Iran, destroying nuclear facilities and assassinating major nuclear scientists and military officials responsible for the uranium‑enrichment program.
President Trump stated that he knew the timing in advance—he had given Iran a 60‑day deadline to reach a deal limiting uranium enrichment.
Though the chances of a diplomatic settlement are now slim, Trump has kept the door open, noting that the Iranians said they want to come to Washington for negotiations.
“They want to come to the White House. Maybe I will do it,” he said, acknowledging how difficult it would be for officials to leave Tehran amid Israeli strikes.
What Trump is definitely considering is destroying Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility, built deep within a mountain and for which only the USA currently has the means. That weapon is the famous GBU‑57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP):
Weight: ≈13–15 tons (30,000 lb), the largest conventional bomb in the U.S. arsenal.
Purpose: designed to penetrate extensive rock/concrete—up to ~60 m of soil or ~300 ft of rock—before detonating. scientificamerican.com
Limitation: Its effectiveness against Fordow is debated in the Pentagon; some assess it may require a nuclear alternative.
Additionally, deploying this bomb would require not only the weapon itself but also a specially equipped aircraft: the B‑2 Spirit stealth bomber, the only aircraft capable of carrying the MOP.
The mission would demand in‑flight refueling across the Atlantic and the Middle East, escorted support from F‑35 aircraft, a naval fleet, cyber/EW support, and possibly special operations for target marking, thetimes.co.uk.
Conclusion
For the U.S. to support Israel in destroying Fordow, the following would be needed:
A GBU‑57 bomb dropped from a B‑2 bomber, with full logistics (tankers, EW).
Escorting F‑35s, a naval fleet, cyber/EW support, and possible special ops for target marking.
Without the GBU‑57 and B‑2 capability, Israel’s chances of fully neutralizing the site would be greatly reduced. Any such operation carries a high risk of serious escalation. If the U.S. gets involved, the conflict could spiral further, with more severe consequences. The world now anxiously awaits President Trump’s decision.

Trump just attacked Iran. It seems that he made up his mind.
As someone from the Philippines, it’s wild watching all this unfold. Really hoping things don’t spiral into a full-blown war. Thank you for the heads up..
