Rochester, NY Police Chief La’Ron Singletary was on hand for the Community Gun Buyback at First Genesis Baptist Church, organized by Roc The Peace. Community members had a chance to surrender fire arms for a gift card through the Amnesty program. Assistant NY General Attorney Ted O'Brien stated, 131 guns were collected and close to $7,000 in gift cards were distributed.
New York State gun buy back program began in 2013. According to reports, the program has collected 2,505 firearms across state.
