Examining Identity Politics

I try to be very careful regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. When I was an undergraduate student, students took sides and things could get really heated.

Despite the risk of offending others, however, recent news has made American identity a part of identity politics. I live in this country and I was born in this country. This is the only place I consider to be home. A recent event put me in a dilemma where the choice would have affected my reputation.

Making what is the right decision, I understand a lot better those who grapple with identity politics. However, I still stand firm in the concept that identity politics should never justify harming people who are different from you and/or me.
