Hi! I'm Rose and I enjoy writing for entertainment- mainly fiction writing. I am currently working on a personal story of six seasons titled A Complicated Myth.It is currently in the re-making of it, since I was unhappy with how the artwork looked. I also have many personal writing projects relating to the story! I'll add a little snippet.
Derek laughed, drinking his wine at the fine dinner he had brought Athena out to. He made a rather funny joke, hoping for Athena to find it just as humorous as he did. To his avail, she laughed, her soft voice giving a beautiful chuckle to meet his ears. Her smile shined through the candlelight and Derek stared, not knowing truly what he was feeling in that exact moment.
Her long lashes perfectly shielded her eyes from his, as he desperately stared. They had been dating for a good long while- and yeah- Derek felt feelings for her. But this feeling, this was different. His heart was beating out of his chest at that moment, and his hands felt almost as if they were trembling. Athena looked back to Derek’s dumbfounded stare, he was sweating. Worriedly, she spoke, “Darling, is something the matter?”
“Oh dear! Is it a fever?!” Athena gasped and quickly placed her wine down on the table. Derek nodded quickly, his voice slightly higher pitch than before, “I think I’m gonna use the boys' room for just a second, Angel-”
Before Athena could respond, Derek was making a chaotic, struggling bolt to the bathrooms. He stumbled into the fancy restaurant’s stall, staring at himself in the mirror. Frantically wiping the sweat from his temples, he shakily cleared his throat. It suddenly was hot in the room, he pulled at his necktie. “Fucking-” Derek turned on the sink and splashed his face with cold water, thanking god his makeup was waterproof.
Athena sat at the table, daintily sipping the very expensive merlot Derek ordered for her. She looked around with a small smile at the dimly lit restaurant, enjoying the mood. The tall, handsome man who was her boyfriend quickly made his way back to the table, his saunter being much more stiff this time around. With a nervous chuckle and smile, Derek sat. “Do you feel better now?” Athena asked. Derek’s eyes meeting Athena’s mere body was difficult at this point. Every time he looked at her he felt a rush of the same nausea, but he couldn’t stop looking. And for some reason, he felt the constant headache where his bullet wound subsided. It scared him. With a gentle nod, Derek took a sip of the red wine, then coughed, choking when attempting to swallow. Athena watched as Derek shakily set down his glass. “Perhaps we should return home? You seem unwell. I can draw a warm bath for you and allow you to relax!”
Derek’s mind flashed with images of her laying rose petals in his luxurious bathtub, her lighting candles, and sitting by the seat, her in the- Derek nodded and stood, continuing to nod. Athena smiled warmly and stood, blowing out the candle at the center of the table- out of courtesy for the workers so they didn’t have to. Derek pinched the other, smothering the flame quickly. “Alright, ready? Ready, let’s go.” He laid a few hundred dollars cash on the table before walking towards the exit. Athena left a calligraphic note on a napkin, explaining he was feeling unwell and the service was amazing.
The car ride home was a struggle, as Athena had her gentle hand on his. The grip he had on his gear shift of the muscle car was a vice one and his body was fully conscious of every movement she made against his skin. She melodically hummed along to classical music he played for her, which swam through his ears. The lights of course had to all be red. With a shaky breath, Derek would take glances at his girlfriend, her olive green, puppy dog eyes reflecting the green traffic light’s glare in a cinematic way. Flooring it, Derek switched to the sport mode of his car and made his way home- as fast as he could, running most “orange lights” as he called them.
Derek clumsily fumbled with his keys to open the front door. Athena stopped him, “Darling,” she said in her sweet, calm voice, “Please, why are you so nervous? I have never seen you in such a way…” Her eyes pleaded for an answer as she searched through his. Derek’s owl-yellow eyes strained, but softened, his pupils dilating. “Derek,” Athena gently said, “What is happening?” She placed a loving hand on the flat of his chest, tucking her fingers underneath the lapel of his suit. Derek’s mind went blank, which was nothing he had experienced before. Everything stood still for him in time. Slowly, he cupped her jawline in his strong hand. Pulling her close ever so slowly, he delicately pressed his lips to hers.
The first kiss was the best feeling Derek couldn’t possibly describe. He craved more, he wanted to kiss her forever. Athena didn’t fight it, either, she allowed her eyes to flutter closed. Kissing again, Derek slowly dipped Athena, cradling the back of her head and running his fingers through her hair. After what seemed like barely enough time for Derek, he pulled away. Athena smiled and cocked her head, her straight, dark hair falling in front of her face. Tears formed in Derek’s eyes as he smiled in return, but it quickly turned to sobbing- him being overwhelmed by emotion. Athena worriedly took Derek’s face in her hands, holding the sides of his face, “Why are you crying?” she whispered. He whimpered, smiling widely through his tears.
