Music became apart of my life. I was forced to join the choir in middle school, seventh grade to be exact. I really wanted to learn french but I was told I needed in the choir. That's when the love of music grew. I didn't really learn instruments however my voice became one. I always wanted to learn musical instruments, most of my family play them or sing.
After being in the school choir, it transferred to the choir at church as a teenager. Most of my family sing in it. I mostly listened to R&B, was introduced to Old School Gospel, and contemporary gospel. Artists like Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, & CeCe Winans songs we sung in our choir along with old hymns.
Even now as I got older (much older, adulting) I realize I can actually sing and join adult choirs in church. The joy of different types of music soothe the soul. Music can really help anyone in the ups and downs of life. I think music can be very therapeutic.
