‘Aladdin’ that played on theater over Memorial Day starred Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott. It entered the $1 billion club for worldwide earning and $355 million domestically. Now, Disney has confirmed that a sequel to the considerably successful movie is happening.
Disney has brought John Gatins and Andrea Berloff to work together in writing the new plot for the sequel. No details have been revealed as to what it will be about, but rumors had it that the studio and producers are looking at ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ tale of Middle Eastern origin.
Guy Ritchie is also returning to helm the project and lead actors and actresses Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott will also return. The first movie is a live-action based on the classic 1992 musical animation. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback will be producers while Ryan Halprin will be an executive producer.
